(*Congregation stands as able)
PRELUDE / INTROIT
MOMENT OF SILENCE
*CALL TO WORSHIP:
L: O God, you summon the day to dawn; you teach the morning to waken the earth.
P: For you the valleys shall sing for joy; the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
L: For you the kings of the earth shall bow, the poor and the persecuted shall shout for joy.
P: Your love and mercy shall last forever, fresh as the morning, sure as thesunrise.
L: Great is your name.
P: Great is your love. Amen.
*HYMN # 420 “God of Grace and God of Glory”
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
You asked for my hands, that you might use them for your purpose. I gave them for a moment, then withdrew them, for the work was hard. You asked for my mouth to speak out against injustice. I gave you a whisper that I might not be accused. You asked for my eyes to see the pain of poverty. I closed them, for I did not want to see. You asked for my life, that you might work throughme. I gave a small part, that I might not get too involved. Lord, forgive my calculated efforts to serve you—only when it is convenient for me to do so, only in those places where it is safe to do so, and only with those who make it easy to do so. Lord, forgive me, renew me, send me out as a usable instrument, that I might take seriously the meaning of your cross. Amen.
UNISON ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we are assured that there is no sin so terrible that God cannot forgive, no hurt so terrible that God cannot heal. God accepts us, God forgives us, and God sets us free.
*RESPONSE # 579 (Hymnal) “Gloria Patri”
*PASSING THE PEACE
(Please share a sign of peace with those closest to you)

O gracious God, you have given us the rich and precious jewel of your holy Word. Assist us with your Spirit, that it may be written in our hearts to our everlasting comfort, to reform us, to renew us according to your own image, to build us up into the perfect building of Christ, and to increase us in all heavenly virtues. In the name of the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer. Amen.

SERMON “A Spirit Led Church: The Council” Rev. Nicholas Dorland
* APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born by the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he was seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
WELCOME To all who worship with us today. We invite you to join us downstairs in the Assembly Room for coffee and fellowship immediately following the service. Please see an
